As New Zealand’s population continues to age, the demand for qualified, compassionate support workers is growing rapidly. By 2036, around 23% of New Zealanders will be aged 65 or over — a notable increase from 14% in 2013. Looking further ahead, the number of older people living with a disability is projected to rise by 60% by 2051.

As of January 2018:

  • Around 16,000 staff were employed in in-home care settings
  • Approximately 22,000 caregivers were working in aged residential care facilities

These figures will only rise — and with them, the need for qualified professionals equipped with the skills, empathy, and cultural understanding to meet the complex needs of our communities.

Under the Care and Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlement Agreement, employers are required to support their staff in gaining formal NZQA qualifications within set timeframes. Cavalli College offers a meaningful opportunity to meet these requirements while contributing to the future of health and wellbeing in Aotearoa.

For a limited time, Cavalli College is offering reduced tuition fees for its July 2025 domestic student intakes:

These programmes provide learners with the knowledge and tools needed to deliver high-quality care, support, and wellbeing of every individual in their care.
