New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) – Health Assistance Strand

This programme enables learners to gain valuable skills and knowledge required to provide culturally appropriate person-centred support in health or wellbeing setting.

What you will learn:

  • Provide culturally appropriate, inclusive person-centred care under the supervision of a health professional
  • Communicate effectively to foster positive relationships and appreciate diversity
  • Recognise and respond to signs of change, vulnerability or abuse
  • Understand relevant legislation, regulations and codes to provide ethical and professional healthcare

  • Find employment in a support role such as a healthcare assistant in a range of contexts including aged care, disability and other support services

Academic entry

Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years old to commence the programme.

English proficiency

All international applicants and domestic applicants for whom English is an additional language and te reo Māori is not the first language evidence of meeting English language requirements according to Rule 22 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2022 for the level of the programme.
