This programme supports learners to understand mental health and addiction issues and apply strategies, interventions, and tools to work alongside people and whānau in mental health and/or addiction settings.
What you will learn:
- Support autonomy, resilience, and hope in those with mental health and addiction issues
- Work collaboratively and apply effective communication strategies to manage impacts of stigma and discrimination
- Apply knowledge of the history and context of Māori as tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangi to support cultural connectedness in a health and wellbeing setting
- Demonstrate self-awareness, reflective practice, and personal leadership
Achieving this qualification will help you to:
- Find employment in a support role such as a mental health and addiction support worker, addiction programme facilitator, caregiver, or residential support worker
- Use your lived experience to support recovery for others with similar experience
